I watched this movie so late, and I genuinely regret it now. The film is heartbreaking. Yes, it’s about the mother, but the two characters who truly hit me were the two friends.
There’s a scene where Sathar stands against the wall and cries because he realises he’s losing the only person he has left.

Then there’s Britto, who doesn’t look back at Sathar before leaving for abroad. He has to go because he needs to survive.

Another moment shows Sathar walking away after losing his friend.

And the last image is Britto asking Sathar’s mother why Sathar never came back after that day. Sathar left immediately after Britto went abroad.
These scenes only hit you deeply if you’ve been through something similar.
The day I panicked, the only people I had were my friends. I can relate to how important that is.
Everyone has their own highs and lows. And when you can’t handle things alone, the moment you realise you have people who understand your vulnerability and still stand with you that’s what saves you.
Saudi Vellakka is one of a kind. When you relate to films like this, you realise how heavy and meaningful those moments really were.
